Cooperative Extension

The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension responds to the needs and interests of the people and youth in Houston County with unbiased, research based education from the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and the College of Family Consumer Sciences.

  • Agriculture and Natural Resources - Assisting traditional row crop farmers, landscapers, and the urban gardener through unbiased researched based information, site visits, and sampling.
  • Master Gardener - This program is a great opportunity to learn about gardening and to share that knowledge with others through volunteering.
  • 4-H Youth Development - Assisting youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing member of society.
  • Family and Consumer Sciences - Information on food safety, nutrition, food preservation, child development and parenting skills, personal financial management, housing and environment, and healthy living habits.
