Sealed Bids:  Houston County will accept sealed proposals for the Grade, Base, & Paving of Terrell Road project at the Houston County Purchasing Department, 2020 Kings Chapel Road, Perry, Georgia, until 10:00 am local time on April 9, 2020.  Upon expiration of time for receipt of bids, all bids will be opened and publicly read aloud.  No bid may be withdrawn after the closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of sixty (60) calendar days after bid opening date. 

 

Project Description:  The proposed construction consists of furnishing all materials and equipment and performing all labor necessary to complete the Grade, Base, & Paving of Terrell Road, (project roadway length is 1.13 miles).  Work includes grading, soil cement base placement, and triple surface treatment paving, storm drainage, and the implementation of the erosion, sediment, and pollution control plan and comprehensive monitoring program.  Further work includes installation of water mains.  All work will be in accordance with the Georgia Department of Transportation standard specifications and supplemental specifications (latest edition), the Georgia Manual for Erosion and Sediment Control (latest edition), and Houston County.

 

Mandatory Pre-Bid:  A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for April 2, 2020 at the Houston County Public Works Office, 2018 Kings Chapel Road, Perry, Georgia 31069.  The meeting will begin at 10:00 am.

 

Prequalification of Bidder:  All potential bidders must hold a current Georgia Department of Transportation Certificate of Qualification.

 

The proposed construction will be awarded in one contract.

 

Plans, Specifications, and Contract Documents:  Plans, specifications, and contract documents are available for review at the Houston County Public Works Department, during regular business hours.  Copies may be obtained from Saunders Engineering Consultants, Inc., 104-C Gunn Road, Centerville, Georgia 31028, Phone Number (478) 953-1228, Fax Number (478) 953-1248, upon payment of $150.00 for each set (non-refundable).

 

Bonds:  All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Bond in the amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the Total Base Bid.  Performance and Payment Bond, each in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the total contract amount, will be required of the successful bidder.  Bonds must be written by an acceptable Surety Company licensed to do business in the State of Georgia and listed in the Department of Treasury, Circular 570, latest edition.

 

Permits:  The successful bidder shall secure and pay for all permits, assessments, charges or fees required in connection with the proposed construction. 

 

Right of Way / Easements:         All anticipated rights of way and easements required for the project have been obtained or will be obtained prior to the bid opening.

 

Houston County reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities or technicalities or to readvertise as appropriate.
